This morning I was working on some art while my daughter was at her preschool. After about 40 min, I was getting quite frustrated. It seemed that nothing was working out on canvas the way I had wanted it to. I collaged, painted, and then scratched one painting several times. Finally I decided to take a break…do something else artistic but different. So I began researching repeating patterns using GIMP. I began playing around with segments of paintings and other doodles. After a few minutes, I finally managed to get something to work for me. It felt good! I still have a ways to go in learning this art form, but I’m making slow and steady progress on a regular basis and that’s what counts. Wanna see what I came up with? Here is my birdie doodle. Fee free to use this pattern in your art projects for commercial or personal use. Just be sure to alter it;) The image is 8.5x11inches and 300ppi.
